Process Control
Process control is a critical element in effective thermoplastic encapsulation of coil wound electrical devices. High yield encapsulation requires much more precision than is achievable with conventional methods. While injection molding is a high speed/high pressure process, Encap implements a process control methodology that insures the component sees a process profile several times more uniform than normal.

Encap’s process control methodology enables:
  • High yield rates: Tight, repeatable control of the pressure profile seen by the component. Critical due to the high costs of scrapped inserts.

  • Faster time to market: Establishment of a process template that can be taken from prototype to the production tool, thus reducing time to scale up.

  • Encap to monitor clients’ processes online and troubleshoot issues remotely and in real time.

  • Graphical interpretation, to facilitate easy understanding of the process.

  • Movement of mold to other machinery, facilities, or countries with an identical process profile.

  • Molding of very high viscosity compounds or highly variable compounds.

  • The ability to work with expensive inserts (up to $6,000 per insert in past programs).
