A wide range of thermoplastic base polymers can be used for encapsulation. Sample general purpose resins, which are among the hundreds of potential resins that could be used, are shown here for comparison. Encap determines the optimal material depending on the performance needs of the specific application. Encap can tailor a resin to meet the specific needs of an application, such as damping of specific frequency ranges. Encap works in partnership with DuPont to extend the use of thermoplastics in a specific series of patented motor configurations. Use of a DuPont resin in these systems enables a royalty-free license of the technology. Contact Encap for more information. Encap also has established a partnership with GE Plastics to develop and enable the use of specialty thermoplastics into encapsulated electrical components. These thermoplastics enable such characteristics as enhanced thermal conductivity, constrained CTE, and energy absorption.
