The method to achieve a complete hermetic seal is similar to that by which golf balls are made. The insert is held in place as the molten plastic fills the mold. Once the insert is surrounded by plastic, hydraulic cylinders withdraw the pins, leaving the insert suspended in the thermoplastic.
